The UKPS Head Office in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire has recently undergone a £500,000 refurbishment to provide new, fully functional training facilities, as well as additional bespoke office and warehouse space.
James Trumper, Finance Director at UKPS, said: “This is a significant investment by UKPS and shows our commitment to remaining local in the place where the business first started. We recognise that our success is down to our committed staff who have helped build the business. It is important that we have the right facilities to attract and retain high-calibre people in order to maintain our growth. This investment means that, not only do we have improved office space, but we are able to enhance our technical training facilities to provide our employees with first-class training and development programmes.”
UKPS attract and retain some of the most talented people in the utility connections industry and have employees with varying degrees of experience and industry knowledge. Some of them joined us with no industry-specific training but they had the right attitude and have proven themselves invaluable by embracing the training and courses we provided. Training our people in-house enables us to guarantee the quality of our work and the new facilities have up-to-date technology, IT, training aids and classroom space for 20+ people, all designed with the company’s ethos and processes in mind, to provide training from ‘Jointers Mate’ all the way to HV jointing. Giving simulated and ‘as live’ training in a completely safe environment ensures our staff have the knowledge and experience required to complete work on time and to the highest standards.
The practical element covers around 70% of the Jointers Mate course and is followed up with a classroom-based knowledge section to further embed the training and enable candidates to complete City & Guilds certification before moving on to our HV jointing training course.
We have also taken on 20 graduates this year on our two year graduate training scheme. They will be taken through all aspects of the business as well as taking interactive training courses in the new classroom environment.
